Ludwig Tieck: Literaturprogramm und Lebensinszenierung im Kontext seiner Zeit. Ed. by WALTER SCHMITZ. Tubingen: Niemeyer. 1997. xiii + 277 pp. DM 124.

This is a collection of papers given at a colloquium held at the Technische Universitat Dresden in November 1993. The fourteen papers cover a wide variety of topics surrounding the life and work of Ludwig Tieck. With their publication, the editor hopes to reposition the field of Tieck research at the centre of 'Germanistik' in Germany itself, and, as the title of the volume suggests, put the writer and his work in the cultural context of a rapidly changing Europe.
