The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of participation in fitness testing on physical self-esteem and social physique anxiety. Sixty-five students from college fitness classes volunteered for "a study of perceptions of how people feel about themselves physically." After informed consent procedures, all participants completed the Social Physique Anxiety Scale (SPAS) and the Physical Self-Perception Profile (PSPP) questionnaires.
