Blame the aunties, or thank them--the aunties of 11-year-old Kelly and 9-year-old Jamie Hee that is. They're the folks who got the girls into collecting Ty Beanie Babies, which provided the inspiration for their mom Evelyn Hee's hot selling Hawaiian Collectibles.
Hee, director of merchandising and product development for Booklines Hawaii, Ltd., saw her daughters' furry friends and thought, "Why can't we interpret this into Hawaiian-type beanie toys?"
