CARNIVAL TO START LUXURY CRUISE LINE DUBBED 'PROJECT TIFFANY'
MIAMI, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Carnival Cruise Lines, Inc. (AMEX:CCL) has initiated a two-track strategy to enter the traditional end of the cruise market in the early 90s.
According to company President Micky Arison, the line actively began exploring the purchase of an existing cruise line shortly after its initial public offering last July. He said the line still is pursuing that avenue "subject to finding a product suited to our needs at a realistic price."
The second track of the program, dubbed "Project Tiffany," involves constructing its own fleet of luxury cruise ships.
