The cleanup continues in federal court judgments against parties involved in the Vertac Superfund site in Jacksonville.
U.S. District Judge George Howard Jr. issued a judgment Feb. 8 entitling Hercules Inc. of Hercules, Del., and Uniroyal Chemical Ltd. of Middlebury, Conn., to contributions from each other for response costs and interest.
The companies had sought delays in paying Howard's earlier judgment, which assessed the companies jointly for $89.1 million in cleanup costs. Howard also tapped Hercules for another $11.5 million from the cleanup of two Jacksonville landfills once used to store Vertac's dioxin.
