Apr. 25--Appleton Papers, the world's largest producer of carbonless paper, intends to increase production capacity of thermal paper by more than 50 percent during the next 18 months.
The focus on thermal paper grades includes a schedule of equipment upgrades, conversions and expansions into the second half of 2001.
"We've acknowledged that carbonless is a mature product, and, in fact, a declining product," said Bill Van Den Brandt, manager of corporate communications with Appleton Papers. "And as that business declines, we are constantly seeking ways to find growth in our existing businesses.
