When the new Metropolis Performing Arts Centre opens May 5 in Arlington Heights, the actors may break a sweat, but the folks at the Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts won't.
The theaters are similarly-sized and sit just 8 miles apart, but the directors of both theaters welcome the competition.
In the performing arts community, competition and choices expands awareness. And expanded awareness should expand the audience base, said Prairie Center director Betsy Armistead, who stressed she does "not feel threatened" by her new neighbors to the northeast.
