Misty had been through a divorce and a custody battle before she ended up homeless.
She was staying in a kennel in the care of DuPage Animal Control. And she was running out of time.
That's when Collie Rescue of Greater Illinois intervened, found the 7-year-old collie a foster home and eventually connected her with the Vardas. The Woodridge family of four took her in as a foster pet in mid-January.
Recently, Erin and Jay Varda signed their names on the adoption contract that officially makes Misty part of their family.
"She's great. She's the perfect dog for our family," Erin Varda said.
