Just a little over a week ago, Dave Chittenden tapped a few maple trees over at Naper Settlement to collect some sap in anticipation of Maple Sugaring Days.
While the sap didn't run freely into a bucket, it did drip out pretty regularly from a spigot.
On Saturday, Chittenden, a museum educator, tried the same thing.
This time? Nothing.
No sap dripped into a metal bucket, which was set up to catch the liquid.
You see, tapping maple trees depends a lot on the weather.
The prime time for tapping is when temperatures are in the 50s, 60s and 70s.
