A group of Illinois legislators is calling for public support of proposed state and federal legislation that would allow seniors to buy drugs in a purchasing pool to lower prescription costs.
Lawmakers including U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, an Evanston Democrat, state Sen. Lisa Madigan and state Rep. Larry McKeon, both Chicago Democrats, and state Rep. Maggie Crotty, an Oak Forest Democrat, on Sunday called for laws favoring formation of such buying pools.
The lawmakers said the cost of prescription drugs is out of reach for many seniors.
