CHELSEA, Mass., April 17 /PRNewswire/ --
Consumers need more vitamin C to maintain good health, but not the large doses they often get from supplements, according to a report released on April 11 from the Institute of Medicine's Food and Nutrition Board (FNB). Women should now consume 75 milligrams per day of vitamin C and men should consume 90 milligrams - both up from 60 milligrams. Smokers should add an additional 35 milligrams per day. The expert panel notes that the new vitamin C recommended daily allowance can easily be met with food.
