The number of teenagers employed by Michigan restaurants is increasing as Michigan businesses continue to prosper, according to officials at Michigan Restaurant Association. The booming economy and Michigan's record low unemployment rate has led to a tight labor market, giving teens unprecedented opportunities in the work force.
"As the restaurant industry continues to grow and the population stays the same, we are having an increasingly difficult time finding good help," said Larry Schuler, owner of Schu's Grill & Bar in St. Joseph, Mich.
