Computers have changed the way middle school librarians do their jobs.
But some things - such as making sure the library has age- appropriate materials - have stayed the same.
"When I first started, we had no computers at all," said Geneva Middle School Librarian Carole Rotter, who started in 1978. "I was strictly cataloging and checking out books. Our job is a lot more varied because of the technology that's included.
"It's always been challenging, but now in a more enjoyable way. I'm learning daily. I think it's become a lot more fun in these times."
There is also less emphasis on textbooks than in years past.
