Basketball is a game of strategy.
That was made ultra clear to me Monday afternoon by Larkin sophomore girls basketball player Mel San Miguel.
As I was walking up the stairs to Larkin's upper gym, I was extremely curious what San Miguel's strategy was concerning free throws.
Heading into the week, San Miguel happened to lead the Fox Valley area in free throws attempted with a whopping 192.
With Larkin playing 22 games, that's an average of nearly 9 attempts a contest. The average Fox Valley area player goes to the line 1.3 times a game (I counted).
