Celebrity-seeking teens came out in force - about 2,000 in all - on Saturday to see rising pop star Mandy Moore up close.

"I've never seen a celebrity in person before," said Jennifer Mazuera, 13, of Buffalo Grove. "She was so pretty. It was awesome."

The 15-year-old Moore is a brand-new star - and the youngest to hit the charts. Her single, "Candy," is at No. 34 on the Billboard Charts and airs regularly on MTV.

About 2,000 fans lined up outside the Sam Goody music store at Woodfield Shopping Center in Schaumburg Saturday for a chance to meet her.
