After two years of deal-making, Charlestowne Mall soon could be getting a new anchor store.
Mayor Sue Klinkhamer Friday confirmed that Charlestowne Mall owners have reached an initial agreement to add a Von Maur department store to the mall's line-up.
Aldermen Monday are expected to approve a sales tax rebate agreement to help lure the Iowa-based department store to the mall. Aldermen first discussed the agreement in 1998 but never approved it.
"(Before) we needed to be at a point where we felt secure it was going to move ahead," Klinkhamer said. "The process is ready to move forward. This is part of the process of Von Maur coming."
