Export oriented companies fared better amid the crisis. The rise of the dollars boosted exports. PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper exported 65% of its production and under the crisis it raised exports to 80% of its production. Its export destinations include China, Hongkong, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Middle East, Europe and the United States. PT Riau Andalan Pulp & Ppaer, however, increased its sales on the domestic market to follow demand from ppaper mills.
