CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Farms.com, an agricultural online exchange, announced March 15 that Robert D. Sparks, formerly vice chairman of Sparks Companies Inc., has joined the company as chief executive officer.

In addition, the company noted that Jay Gibbs has been named chief technology officer. He had previously worked for Federal Express before serving as vice president and chief technology officer for Sparks Companies' e-commerce business.
