The reported deaths and hostage-taking of U.N. peacekeepers in Sierra Leone may have repercussions not only in West Africa, but all over the continent.
The apparent killing of four missing peacekeepers Wednesday by rebel forces in Sierra Leone could have what one former State Department official called "a chilling effect" on already hesitant U.N. peacekeeping efforts in Africa.
