By a vote of 206 to 168, the parliament on 2 May elected Deputy Ombudsman Peter Polt as Hungary's prosecutor-general. Polt was nominated for the post last week by President Arpad Goncz, following consultations with all six parliamentary parties. Polt replaces Kalman Gyorgyi, who leaves office on 15 May. Also on 2 May, the new minister without portfolio in charge of the secret services, Ervin Demeter, was sworn in. ...
