By a vote of 206 to 168, the parliament on 2 May elected Deputy Ombudsman Peter Polt as Hungary's prosecutor-general. Polt was nominated for the post last week by President Arpad Goncz, following consultations with all six parliamentary parties. Polt replaces Kalman Gyorgyi, who leaves office on 15 May.
