The new 2000 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, recently released by the USDA'S Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee, suggests Americans increase daily servings of fruits and vegetables to five servings for children, seven for teens and women and nine for most men. Specifically, the guideline recommends getting vegetables into regular diets by pairing fresh vegetables such as carrots, celery and broccoli with veggie/chip dip and including them in main dishes such as stir-fry and pasta.
