Bread is the staff of life. But Bread & Circus?
The natural food chain is feared among some residents of Boston's Beacon Hill, West End and North End, who worry the arrival of Bread & Circus might mean they are priced out of buying staples. The residents fear they are pawns in a grocery game with a cynical motto: Let them eat cake.
Bread & Circus has acquired the lease on the Stop & Shop store that currently sits in the only well-trod corner of the Charles River Plaza, a rundown, half-deserted shopping mall on Cambridge Street near Massachusetts General Hospital and Charles River Park.
