At the end of last year/beginning of this year, the admirable Limabased publication, MinerAndina ran a two-part feature on industry figures' thoughts of the future (December 27, 1999 No. 192 and January 17, No. 193). Those putting forward their opinions included Juan Proano, general manager of Soc Minera El Brocal, Jorge Manco Zaconetti, a university professor Kenneth Buckley, general manager of Doe Run Peru, mining consultant Felipe de Lucio and Leonard Harris, the man who was Minera Yanacocha's first general manager and who is now the representative for Thiess contractors in Peru.
