ON May 9, 1975, the son of a West Country bookmaker was so elated at sending out his first winner that he gave the entire pounds 272 first prize to his jockey.
Few realised what they had witnessed that afternoon, as the Martin Pipe-trained Hit Parade made all under Len Lungo to land the second division of the Motorway Hurdle at Taunton.
Certainly, only those with the broadest imagination could have predicted that 25 years later Pipe would be the 10-time champion jumps ...
