INTERNATIONAL PLAN DRAFTED TO CONTROL LAKE ONTARIO TOXICS NIAGARA FALLS, NEW YORK -- Controlling toxic substances in Lake Ontario is the focus of a draft plan released here today by the Lake Ontario Toxics Committee. With this release, the four U.S. and Canadian environmental agencies comprising this Committee have met a commitment to prepare a draft plan. The next step recommended is public review of the draft plan to ensure that it accurately reflects the problems facing the Lake and includes appropriate recommendations for action.

The plan sets short, intermediate, and long-term goals for reduction of toxics in Lake Ontario.
