The hostility of federal lawmakers and some in the business community toward the Kyoto climate change treaty notwithstanding, an Underwood, Washington-based nonprofit group has roped in a dozen or so companies, among them oil companies, to bring climate-neutral products and services to the market.

In the pipeline is a move to market so-called "climate- neutral" gasoline. Such a fuel is still at a conceptual stage, but the group - the Climate Neutral Network (CN Network) - has made its mark by working with participating companies to offset the greenhouse gases they generate.
