COLORADO SPRINGS -- Intravenous pamidronate is a good alternative in osteoporotic women who can't take oral bisphosphonates, estrogen, or calcitonin, Dr. Michael T. McDermott said at a meeting of the Colorado chapter of the American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine.
The treatment consists of 30 mg pamidronate placed in 500 cc of normal saline and infused over 2 hours every 3 months.
