While Bob Dobbin, president of CD Associates, has many interests, including the guitar, he took a more scientific route into the optical disc business. He attended M.I.T., where he earned degrees in physics and biology. He picked up interim work as a research assistant between classes, first in astrophysics, where he worked on black holes and intergalactic X-ray burst sources, and later medical and optical -- as in eyes, not discs -- projects.
