Slight Decline In Textile Mill Operating Rate for October

Textile mills operated 93.3 percent of capacity in October, a slight drop from the 93.8 percent rate the previous month, the Federal Reserve has reported.

However, George Wino, the American Textile Manufacturers Institute's chief economist, downplayed the decline's significance and questioned the validity of the report, issued Tuesday. "I don't put much faith in the Fed's report since it indicated textile mills operating at 95 percent of capacity in August, which probably was very high. Right now, we estimate textile mills are operating at about 91 percent to 92 percent of capacity.
