EVERY YEAR IN NEW YORK CITY AN ARKLOAD TURNS UP FOR THE ANNUAL BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS AT ST. JOHN THE DIVINE, AND THERE'S AWE IN THE AISLES
Each year on the first Sunday in October, thousands of critters--and their humans--fill New York City's Cathedral of St. John the Divine for the Blessing of the Animals. Elephants could and do fit inside this Gothic Episcopal palace, leading a garden variety of creatures in a procession complete with music and flowers.
