The Government has begun the exercise for formation of an All India Judicial Service following a recommendation of the Supreme Court of India (SCI) in its judgement of November 13, 1991 in Writ Petition No. 1022/89 and later judgement of August 24, 1993 in review Petition No. 249/92-All India Judges Association Vs. Union of India and Others, that an All India Judicial Service should be set up and the Government of India take appropriate steps in this regard.
