PENGUIN have published a trade size paperback edition of Scanning the Century: The Penguin Book of the Twentieth Century in Poetry ([pounds]12.99. 596 pages. ISBN 0140-58899-X) edited by Peter Forbes. It tells the history of the twentieth century in verse and gives new insight into a century that is now history. A second history title is Richard Breitman's Official Secrets: What the Nazis Planned, What the British and Americans Knew ([pounds]8.99, 325 pages. ISBN 0-14-028034-0). As the Contemporary Review noted on its hardback release, this was 'a balanced and well informed contribution to writing on the [ldots] War [which] will profoundly influence future studies.'
