For the last century, the European fashion set has seen Paris and Milan vying for the spotlight. While the City of Light's old couture houses such as Givenchy, Yves St Laurent and Christian Dior are regaining some of their former glory, some seasoned Parisian shoe designers are venturing out onto their own and breathing fresh air into the city's fashion scene.
Pierre Hardy is one such designer. After years of experience, first at Christian Dior and then Hermes, he decided to launch his eponymous shoe line during the spring '99 Paris ready-to-wear collections, inviting buyers and press to view his debut collection in his 10th arrondissement showroom.
