The second man to set foot on the moon is a study in contrasts. Buzz Aldrin is inclined to describe his own larger-than-life adventures in understatements. But when it comes to his new outer-space thriller, "The Return" (Forge, $25.95), and his vision for continued space exploration, he waxes lyrical.
Speaking from his Los Angeles home, Aldrin described the last moments of his hair-raising 1969 moon landing with cool tranquility.Those who watched the landing on TV may remember it as remarkably smooth, but Aldrin said it was fraught with danger.
