Background: When luxury-automaker Jaguar first started exporting cars from England in the late 1930s, only 889 were earmarked for regions outside of Great Britain. Of those only a smidgen landed in North America. Today, North America represents Jaguar's largest single market with sales accounting for 48 percent of 1998 production. In all Jaguar operates in more than 60 markets worldwide. All Jaguars are assembled in England. The United States is home to 136 authorized Jaguar dealers.
