New findings from a collaborative study have shown that mast cells, usually known to be associated with the symptoms seen during allergic reactions, express major surface receptors that can heighten susceptibility to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
These findings were presented recently at the 56(th) Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, held in San Diego, California.
