An Agreement Is Sealed
King John rode with his supporters to the meadow on the south bank of the Thames River. There, amidst armor clanking, flags flying in the breeze, and horses whinnying, he was to meet the barons assembled on the north bank. The day was Monday, June 15, 1215, and he place was Runnymede.
This meadow to the west of London was situated between the areas known as Windsor and Staines, and had long been used as a meeting place.
