Jackie Robinson was more than a great athlete. His ideals live on with the Jackie Robinson Foundation. Robinson's wife, Rachel Robinson, started the foundation in 1973.
The foundation gives deserving minority students generous college scholarships. (A scholarship is an award of money to help pay for schooling.) Each Jackie Robinson scholarship is worth up to $24,000. It helps students pay for the college education necessary for young people seeking good jobs in today's world.
