DuPont patents to benefit Kent State;Liquid Crystal Institute to develop donated ideas.

Professors at Kent State University's Liquid Crystal Institute plan to team up with local companies to develop products with commercial potential from seven patents recently donated to the university by DuPont.

The patents cover chemical compounds and materials used to make liquid crystal displays, semiconductors and electronic devices, Dalen Keys, global technology director for DuPont's iTechnologies unit, said the Wilmington, Del.-based company considered a number of universities around the world before giving them to KSU.
