May 31--The first meeting of the new Exxon Mobil Corp. should be a happier affair than the last annual meetings of the two companies that now make up the oil giant.
Last May, shareholders of Exxon Corp. and Mobil Corp. voted on their proposed merger under the twin clouds of low oil prices and fears of what conditions regulators might place on the union.
Since then, regulators have approved the merger of the two companies, giving the final go-ahead in late 1999. Irving-based Exxon has been busy since swallowing up Mobil and combining, selling and cutting to create a single company.
