The atmosphere at Lucia's Uptown bistro got a little too hot for one woman, her dinner companion and owner Lucia Watson a few weeks back. Ever smelled seriously burned hair? Leslie Borgen, an O.R. nurse, and Al Lorenz, a nurse anesthetist, were having a glass of wine in the bar while waiting for their table. Votive candles were glowing all around. "The bar is dark. I guess I didn't notice the candle was there," Borgen said. They sat down, and "the next thing I know, Al is whacking me on the back of my head."
