Although Arthur Burck left Minnesota in the 1940s, his presence continued to be felt here by the business mergers and acquisitions he had been making since the 1950s.
He died Sunday of complications from Alzheimer's disease in West Palm Beach, Fla., where he had lived since 1993. He was 87.
Rutilia Burck said her husband put together deals worth more than a billion dollars. "He was considered the father of mergers and acquisitions for corporations and business," she said. "He really got it started. He felt that many times it was more difficult than getting two people married.
