Customizing a flat-panel display system can improve cost-performance ratios in specific situations. Display integrated circuits (ICs) can be purchased economically and configured by the builder for his own display needs. Becoming acquainted with the different kinds of display-driver ICs, such as row drivers and column drivers, is important. One of the most important reasons to integrate display panels is to mix and match one's own peripheral-control circuitry with the circuits that drive the display.
