Grand Rapids, Minn., firefighters battled fire at a petroleum warehouse for the second time Friday after spilled oil and other products reignited before they could be cleaned up.
Quick action by firefighters Thursday had prevented any serious contamination of the nearby Mississippi River, officials said.
Fire Chief Scott Cook said firefighters returned to Davis Petroleum about 1:15 a.m. Friday and took three hours to extinguish the blaze using foam.
"Hot spots" left from a fire the night before reignited a 40-foot-square pool of flammable liquids inside an earthen berm built to contain the spill, Cook said.
