Three more Hennepin County nursing homes will close this summer, the state's largest operator said Wednesday.
Good Samaritan Care Centers in Bloomington and Golden Valley will close July 24; the Nicollet Care Center in Minneapolis will close Aug. 25.
That brings to eight the number of Twin Cities homes that will close by late August. All are older buildings in need of repair and ones that have been losing money, in part because of staff shortages and difficulty keeping the homes full.
In all, fewer than half of the original 508 residents in the eight homes still need to be moved to new homes, officials said.
