Claudia Wilkens has played a catalogue of complex characters in her 35-year professional acting career, including Rosemary in "Picnic" and Miss Hannigan, the mean orphan-minder in "Annie." But few have been as tortured and torturing as Mag, the caustic mother at the heart of an embittered family in Martin McDonagh's "The Beauty Queen of Leenane."
The Tony Award-winning play, opening Saturday in a regional premiere by Eye of the Storm, zooms in on all the warts of a harsh mother-and-daughter relationship.
