A Minneapolis man had been smoking formaldehyde that was laced with the hallucinogen PCP before he shot and killed his 16-year-old friend last August, the suspect's lawyer said Thursday.
The case is the latest example of a problem surfacing in the Twin Cities: young people smoking tobacco or marijuana soaked in embalming fluid or formaldehyde. Though many of the users don't know it, the fluids are believed to be spiked with PCP, a powerful animal anesthetic that can induce extreme disorientation and violence, officials said.
