Article: Corporate Responsibility Center gets new name and global focus.(NEWS)

Two decades ago, the idea that business has responsibilities beyond the bottom line became institutionalized in Minnesota. The business-sponsored Minnesota Project on Corporate Responsibility, launched in 1978, engaged top corporate executives in thinking about their companies' stakeholders. Shareholders, of course. But also employees, customers, suppliers and communities.

So it was natural that in 1983, when New Jersey Gov. Thomas Kean and his state's business leaders wanted to visit a state where the public and private sectors collaborated successfully, they chose Minnesota. The Project on Corporate Responsibility was the host. The visitors were impressed.
