Article: Wolf population will grow under any regulation.(SPORTS)

Lost in the clamor following release Wednesday of a new wolf-management proposal by the Department of Natural Resources is the fact that no matter what Canis lupus plan the Legislature passes in the coming session - if it passes one - Minnesota's wolf numbers likely will rise unabated.

Expansion of the wolf's range outside northeast Minnesota also will continue.

The reason: Wolves can procreate much faster than humans can kill them, given the political constraints of the day.

A little history.

Wolf numbers were cut in Minnesota in the early and middle parts of last century only through the use of poison, bounties and aerial hunting.
