A sport that has united skier and Springer Spaniel together in winter recreation soon might grow popular enough to spin off a whole series of bumper stickers and T-shirt slogans.
Skijoring veteran Pete Hindman suggests the sport should borrow a bit from the skateboarding crowd and use "Skijoring Is Not a Crime" as a rallying cry for those seeking a place for themselves and their dogs on trails teeming with snowmobilers, cross-country skiers and snowshoers.
Beginner Phyllis Hanson has her own motto after participating with her aging English Springer Spaniel, Bosco, in the Midwest Skijoring Club's first races of the season at Highland Park in St. Paul.
